Letter to Students from the President

Fall ’21 courses at SCTC will begin to provide Zoom links

 

September 15, 2021

 

Good afternoon students,

​

Fall ’21 courses at SCTC will begin to provide Zoom links, through Schoology, for all classes beginning Monday, September 20, 2021. Zoom links may be used by all students that are subject to quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students with extenuating circumstances should make immediate contact with their instructor. All courses currently scheduled to meet face to face will continue to be held on campus.

 

SCTC students that are either in quarantine, waiting for COVID test results or feeling ill should refrain from visiting SCTC campus until their quarantine is complete. All students, faculty and staff will be required to wear a facemask covering inside all SCTC buildings and in any situation. SCTC will be providing disposable face at the entrances of each building.

 

The SCTC campus will continue to be open to the public and all business operations will continue with appropriate measures to protect the health of the SCTC community. Please be reminded that the Coronavirus can impact communities very quickly and adjustments will be made accordingly. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

Face coverings now required on Campus

Effective Today, Wednesday, September 8, 2021, SCTC is issuing the following information regarding face coverings and enhanced cleaning and disinfectant protocols.

​

All students, faculty and staff will be required to:

 

• Wear a face covering inside all SCTC buildings and in any situation. SCTC will be
providing disposable face masks to all faculty, staff and students at the entrances of each building.

 

• If you are sick, stay home. Please contact your instructor and Amanda Flaugher, Dean of Students at aflaugher@sagchip.edu for reporting purposes. It is important for SCTC to track the number of students, staff and faculty who have been exposed to COVID or who have tested positive. This reporting is confidential.

​

Enhanced Cleaning/Disinfecting Protocols

 

Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols are in place throughout campus to ensure all horizontal and vertical surfaces, along with critical touch points, will be addressed on a daily basis. SCTC will provide enhanced disinfection efforts across campus including the following spaces (but not limited to):

 

• Classrooms and learning spaces
• Restrooms
• Corridors and common/public spaces

SCTC is taking this proactive measure to protect everyone’s health and safety. We encourage everyone to stay informed via our website and social media channels and continue to support our students as they move forward with their education. Fall 2021 Semester, back to School with enhanced safety measures

SCTC will begin classes, Monday, August 30, 2021 and SCTC will complete the semester on Friday, December 17, 2021. Classes will be delivered in a face-to-face, online or hybrid format as indicated on the fall ’21 course schedule. 

​

​Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols are in place throughout campus to ensure all horizontal and vertical surfaces, along with critical touch points, will be addressed on a daily basis. SCTC will provide enhanced disinfection efforts across campus including the following spaces (but not limited to):

 

• Classrooms and learning spaces
• Restrooms
• Corridors and common/public spaces

SCTC is proud to welcome our alumni, friends, and community members back to campus during this school year to attending programming and special events. Classes transitioning to online format for the rest of the Fall semester

Mon Nov 16, 2020

Per Governor Whitmer’s order, all SCTC classes will be delivered remotely for the remainder of the semester. SCTC’s administrative offices will be open Monday, November 16th for normal business hours.

 

Beginning Tuesday, November 17, 2020, the campus will be closed to the public (locking doors). Business will be conducted by appointment only until December 8, 2020. Updates will be sent out as the situation changes.

Campus is Open, welcome back Students!

SCTC will begin classes, Monday, August 17th, and SCTC will complete the semester on Friday, November 27th.

​

To align with guidance from U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state regulations, we are enacting new practices, policies and procedures throughout campus, including new protocols and initiatives for cleaning and disinfecting. SCTC has also issued the following information regarding face coverings, enhanced cleaning and disinfectant protocols, and access by the public.

​

All students, faculty and staff will be required to:

• Wear a face covering inside all SCTC buildings and in any situation. SCTC will be
providing branded, washable face masks to all faculty, staff and students.

• Complete a daily COVID-19 symptom check sheet when entering campus buildings

• If you are sick, stay home.

​

SCTC staff will welcome students under the SCTC canopy between the West and South building on Monday (8/17) and Tuesday (8/18) morning! We will have student schedules and SCTC masks available for all students!

SCTC is proud to welcome our alumni, friends, and community members to campus during our school year however, it is very likely the majority of our programming will be unavailable to the public during the 2020-2021 academic year.

Open by appointment only, Fall courses transition to a hybrid format

SCTC has implemented a transition plan to open the campus to the public:

  • All SCTC administrative staff will return to campus for limited hours beginning May 18, 2020.

  • The public may call the college to schedule a ZOOM meeting with staff.

  • Face to face meetings are by appointment only.

  • Masks are required for all face to face meetings, if needed the college will provide one for you.

  • Only the student will be schedule for the face to face meetings. No children should attend these meetings.

​

The COVID-19 situation is unpredictable and Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College maintains the health and safety of students and staff as its priority. As we move forward with caution, we understand that flexibility is needed and adjustments may be necessary.

Doors closed, but courses continue online

 

March 23, 2020

Students,

Due to Governor Whitmer’s most recent executive order, the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020 – Monday, May 18, 2020. Staff will NOT be available on-campus during this time.

Just a reminder:

  • All courses will continue in the online-only format through the end of the semester.

  • The deadline to withdrawal "W" from spring ’20 courses has been extended to May 1, 2020.

  • May 2020 commencement ceremonies are postponed.

COVID-19: SCTC goes online

In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College will move to providing an online format, via Schoology, for all classes beginning March 16th through March 27. SCTC students should refrain from visiting SCTC campus following 2020 spring break week. The SCTC campus will be closed to the public, though business operations will continue with appropriate measures to protect the health of the SCTC community. Students with extenuating circumstances should make immediate contact with their instructor.
